Vol. 254 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forest Timber Sales.

31.

asked the Minister for Lands the amount of money realised to date by the sale of timber from Kilworth forest, County Cork; and if he is satisfied with the output from the forest.

Records of receipts for sales of timber are not kept on the basis of forest units but my Department is quite satisfied with the yield of timber at Kilworth forest in relation to the potential of the site types in the area.

Does the Minister agree that the quantity and quality of the timber at Kilworth forest are accepted by his Department as the best in Ireland? The reason that I put down the question was to encourage him to send his foresters and officials to see the excellent work that is done there by the foresters and workers alike.

The Department are certainly fully satisfied with the management and the quality of the work.
