Vol. 254 No. 6

Written Answers. - Office Blocks and Car Parks.

81.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, in respect of Government Departments the rent paid for (a) office blocks and (b) other grounds or land used as car parks; and if he will state in respect of (b) whose cars are parked there.

The total of the commercial rents payable in respect of premises occupied by Government staffs amounts to approximately £490,000 per annum at present.

In the case of nine of the rented premises—eight in Dublin and one in Galway—car parking facilities are included in the leases. The parking spaces are in the main utilised by the occupying staffs, some of whom use their cars for official purposes. In two cases some spaces are reserved for the use of members of the public having business to transact in the offices concerned.
