Vol. 254 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Land Banks.

93.

asked the Minister for Local Government what methods are used by local authorities to calculate the cost of sites allocated from local authority land banks to private developers and co-operative building societies.

The terms of disposal of these sites are entirely a matter for the local authorities concerned, subject to the statutory requirement under the Housing Act, 1966, that the resale price shall not be less than the cost to the local authority of the acquisition and development of the sites, less the value of any subsidy that may be payable under section 44 of the Act. The terms are not subject to my approval and local authorities are not required to submit details of the methods used by them to calculate the cost.
