andMr. Timmins asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of each of the years 1956-57 and 1970-71 the amount collected in road tax.

The amount collected and lodged to the local motor taxation accounts in the year 1956-57 was £4,783,837. Final figures for the year 1970-71 are not yet available but receipts in that year are expected to have amounted to £15,375,000 approximately. The amounts quoted include receipts from driving licence fees.
