Vol. 254 No. 14

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Pensions Board.

124.

asked the Minister for Defence if an appointment was recently made to the post of chairman of the Army Pensions Board; if so, whether the post was advertised prior to such appointment; the name of the person appointed; the number of unsuccessful applicants; and the salary or emoluments attaching to the post.

By virtue of the powers conferred on me by section 5 of the Army Pensions Act, 1927, and with the concurrence of the Minister for Finance, I appointed Lieutenant-General Seán Mac Eoin (retired) to be chairman of the Army Pensions Board on and from 16th April, 1971.

The post was not advertised nor were any applications received. The current salary attaching to the post is £3,399 per annum. It does not carry any emoluments.
