Vol. 254 No. 14

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Housing.

141.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he received proposals from Kildare County Council to accept a tender and to obtain a loan to build 12 houses at Johnstownbridge; and when he expects to sanction them.

A proposal to accept a tender for this scheme, which was received in my Department on 10th February, 1971, has been sanctioned. An application for sanction to a loan to finance the scheme was received on 4th March, 1971, and is under consideration. A decision on the loan application will be given as soon as possible.

Is this a rather long delay in relation to the sanctioning of the loan considering that it came in on the 4th March? Surely the Minister should have been in a position to sanction the loan before now?

It is not necessarily a very long delay.

It is long enough for the people who are waiting.
