Vol. 254 No. 14

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Housing Grants.

149.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the undue delay in the payment of new houses grants in the Kerry area which have been delayed in some cases for over 12 months.

Where a new house in Kerry is completed satisfactorily and it is established that the grant application complies otherwise with the requirements, payment of the balance of the grant normally is made within eight weeks after the receipt of notification of completion of the work. A longer delay may occur in certain individual cases, but steps are being taken to minimise these delays. However, a delay of 12 months would be quite exceptional. If the Deputy furnishes particulars of any individual case where there appears to be an undue delay, I will have the position investigated.
