Vol. 254 No. 14

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Marriage Age.

12.

asked the Minister for Health when it is intended to raise the minimum statutory marriage age to 16 years in the Republic.

Provision for raising the legal minimum age for marriage will be included in legislation which will also cover other matters related to the marriage laws. As some of these matters are still under examination, I am not in a position to state precisely when I shall be able to introduce the legislation, but every effort is being made to do so soon.
