Vol. 254 No. 14

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Au Pair Girls.

23.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs whether it has been decided to adhere to the international convention on au pair girls; and why this country has not done so to date.

The European Agreement on Au Pair Placement came into force on 30th May, 1971 between the three countries which have so far become party to it. The question of Irish accession to the convention is at present under consideration.

Can the Minister say when this consideration period will end and what factors are holding up our signature of this convention? There have been certain complaints about ill-treatment of au pair girls.

I shall see if I can speed it up. There are questions arising for different Ministers in it.

I am calling Question No. 24.

I wish to give notice before 3.30 p.m. that I wish to raise the subject matter of Questions Nos. 4, 115 and 166 on the Adjournment this evening.

It will be a long adjournment.

I am going home at 5 o'clock.

The Minister for Justice can handle it.

The Minister for injustice.
