Vol. 255 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Purchases.

25.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will consider introducing legislation prohibiting the owners of holdings of 100 acres and upwards from acquiring further lands by purchase in areas where there is congestion.

This is a complex matter which I shall have considered, although I might say now that limitation of the acreage to be held by an individual to 100 acres does not appear to me to be a practical proposition when, apart from other considerations, regard is had to the wide range of soil types and the variety of circumstances encountered in practice.
