asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that, in spite of the undertaking given to him in 1969 by the Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland, advertisements for alcoholic liquor are being predominantly directed towards young people; and if he proposes to take any steps to deal with the matter.

The director of the Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland has recently advised me that the advertising industry has agreed a new code of advertising standards which incorporates a new section dealing with the advertising of alcoholic beverages. I have been supplied with a copy of the relevant section which I am studying at present.
