Vol. 255 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Regional Development Programme.

96.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether the Government have under consideration a comprehensive programme for regional development.

As proposed by the Government in their statement of the 19th May, 1969, on regional policy, regional development organisations have been established in the nine planning regions. These organisations have been asked to submit reports indicating for each region the constraints and potential for development. These reports which are now becoming available and the regional plans for industrial development which are being prepared by the Industrial Development Authority will provide the basis for a comprehensive programme of regional development.
