Vol. 255 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Semi-State Body Reports.

7.

asked the Minister for Health if any of the semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department is obliged by statute to furnish an annual report; if so, if any such body has failed to furnish a report within the time limit laid down for it by statute; the reasons for the delay; and what action he proposes to take to ensure the early production of such reports.

Nine of the semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department are obliged by statute to furnish an annual report and all of them do so. Three bodies are obliged to furnish the report within a specified time and, with one exception, the report is furnished within that time.

In the case of the one exception the prescribed time is rather short and there is extra pressure of work on the body at the particular time of the year. The report is, however, furnished within a short period after the required date. I accept that the delay is unavoidable and is not of sufficient consequence to warrant amendment of the relevant statute.

Which body did not supply its report in time?

The report of An Bord Altranais is the one which has delayed us because they have examination work.
