Vol. 256 No. 5

Written Answers. - Valuation Increases.

317.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the Valuation Office has increased the rateable valuation of some dwellings because the householders concerned painted and decorated their premises; if he will state the statutory authority for such increases; and if he will take legislative or other action to prevent these increases which are a serious disincentive to the preservation of property.

I am not aware that the inference in the first part of the Deputy's question is correct, and I do not therefore consider any statement or action necessary.
