asked the Minister for Local Government if he will take steps to have one inspection only for both State and local authority housing grants; and if he will arrange to pay the State portion through the local authority so as to avoid unnecessary delays.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers (Resumed). - Housing Grants.
201.
Housing authorities were advised by circular letter on 14th April, 1967, to consider paying supplementary grants without inspections by them on being notified by my Department that the State grant has been paid. Many authorities have taken that advice.
With regard to the second part of the question, it is not accepted that the payment of the State grant through the local authority would speed up payment of that grant.
