Vol. 256 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Alcoholics Anonymous.

120.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will allow Alcoholics Anonymous to visit jails and prisons to assist inmates who have drink problems.

The answer is yes. A branch of Alcoholics Anonymous has been operating in Mountjoy Prison since 1964.

There is no objection to visits by Alcoholics Anonymous to the other prisons provided that the prisoners concerned give their consent and there is no undue disturbance of prison routine.
