Vol. 256 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Commonage.

22.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the farmers who are co-holders in the commonage at Tonemace, Ardskeaghmore, Corofin, Tuam, County Galway, want this commonage divided between them; and if he will urge the Land Commission to have such a scheme carried out.

No formal application for partition of this commonage has been received but I shall arrange to have the matter brought to the attention of the Land Commission.

I may add, however, that if co-owners wish to subdivide a commonage they may submit to the Land Commission a joint application for permission to do so, together with a scheme. The application, which can be made informally, should embody all the necessary conditions regarding rights of way, erection and maintenance of fences, etc., and should be accompained by a map of the commonage on which the agreed division and rights-of-way are accurately delineated and lettered. The application and map should be signed by the parties concerned, dated, and submitted to the Land Commission.
