Vol. 256 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - India and East Pakistan Relief.

10.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if, in view of the widespread suffering and starvation of millions of refugees, he will make available a further substantial sum towards the relief programmes for India and East Pakistan.

The matter is under consideration at the moment.

Would the Minister be prepared to give urgent and most sympathetic consideration to this request? I am sure he would agree that we Irish people would be more than prepared to tighten our belts in order to give a very substantial contribution.

The first contribution was given very readily and with great sympathy and the matter is under consideration because of the sympathy that is felt in this situation.
