Vol. 256 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Game Preservation Act.

36.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of prosecutions brought in the year 1970 in respect of alleged offences under the Game Preservation Act.

Prosecutions under the Game Preservation Act, 1930, are not brought solely by the garda. Prosecutions for offences under the Act may be brought, for example, by the Irish Coursing Club and by game preservation societies.

Compilation of the figures for prosecutions would involve a special check of Garda and court records at local level and I do not consider that their value would justify the work that would be involved.
