Vol. 256 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointment of Teachers.

29.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the appointment of teachers to posts of responsibility in secondary schools managed by religious orders.

The present position regarding the appointment of teachers to posts of responsibility in all secondary schools is that the arrangements for implementing the proposals agreed between the Department, the managers and the teachers have been the subject of a number of meetings between the parties concerned and it is hoped that the matter will soon be finalised.

What does the Minister mean by "soon"? Next week or next month?

Before the general election.

Discussions are going on between the managers, the teachers, and so on.

Has Deputy L'Estrange finished his private conversation with garrulous Garret?

(Interruptions.)

By "finalised" he means that agreement will be reached?

I hope so.
