Vol. 256 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Consumer Price Index.

2.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the principal changes and the percentage change in each case in the consumer price index between mid-November, 1970 and the present time.

The latest information available for the consumer price index, which is compiled quarterly, relates to mid-August last. Details of the changes in the preceding 12 months were given in reply to an earlier Question—No. 2 of the 28th October last.

Basic price quotations for the November consumer price index are now being collected and the compilation of the index will be completed in about five weeks time. If the Deputy wishes to repeat the question then, the up-to-date information will be available.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary be willing to let me have the information I am looking for when it is available in order to avoid the need to put down a question?

Certainly, I will undertake to do that.
