Vol. 257 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Ambulance.

11.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the dissatisfaction in Ballina over the recent decision to withdraw the new ambulance provided by the Mayo County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The disposition of ambulances is a matter for the health board. If the Deputy wishes to make representations regarding the ambulance services in Ballina it is suggested that he should approach the Western Health Board who are responsible for the service in that area.

As one who has no direct access to the Western Health Board, I was wondering whether the Minister could give me this vital information?

If the Deputy wishes, I will give him the information about the movement of the ambulance in Ballina.

Further arising——

This is a matter for the health board and I shall not interfere.

I happen to be a member of the council and no report from my constituency has been made to me concerning this situation. If such report had been made, I would have got the Western Health Board to deal with the matter immediately.

The Deputy can always approach the Western Health Board.
