Vol. 257 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo School.

51.

asked the Minister for Education when it is intended to appoint a second teacher in Creevagh National School in the Ballina area, which is attended by 38 children.

The conditions for the appointment of a second teacher in Creevagh school are not fulfilled at present.

Should, however, an average enrolment of 36 units be secured for the current quarter, the appointment may be approved.

I have been asked by the parents to raise the matter here because they are seriously concerned about the appointment of an assistant teacher there. Will the Minister give them an assistant teacher?

I have stated that if an average enrolment of 36 units can be secured for the current quarter the appointment can be approved.
