asked the Minister for Finance the present salaries of (a) executive officers and (b) clerical assistants in the Civil Service.

The reply is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I shall circulate with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Salary scales of executive officers and clerical assistants.

Executive Officers (annual scale):

A Scale £940 (at 18 years or at entry under 18), £1,045 (at 19 years),

£1,156 (at 20 years), £1,248 (at 21 years), £1,343 (at 22 years),

£1,440 (at 23 years or at entry over 23) × 48 — £1,920.

B Scale £940 (at 18 years or at entry under 18), £1,045 (at 19 years),

£1,156 (at 20 years), £1,272 (at 21 years), £1,392 (at 22 years),

£1,515 (at 23 years or at entry over 23) × 89 — £2,400.

Clerical Assistants (weekly scale):

£13.90 × £1.04 — £14.94 × £0.61 — £19.82 × £0.63 — £20.45 × £1.07 — £21.52 × £1.10 — £22.62.
