asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will state the countries which have given formal diplomatic recognition to the State of Bangladesh.

My information is that the following 11 countries have accorded formal diplomatic recognition to the People's Republic of Bangladesh, that is to say Barbados, Bhutan, Bulgaria, Burma, the German Democratic Republic, India, Mongolia, Nepal, Poland, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and Yugoslavia.
