Vol. 258 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Taoiseach's Correspondence.

1.

asked the Taoiseach the number of letters he has received, since he took office, about the exercise of his responsibility on Northern affairs.

2.

asked the Taoiseach how many letters he has received since he took office about the exercise of his responsibility in the economic affairs of the country.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 1 and 2 together.

The preparation of replies to these Questions would involve the expenditure, by my staff, of an inordinate amount of time which I would consider to be quite unjustified.

Would the Taoiseach be in a position to state, of the number of letters he received, what proportion of them would be critical of his policy both on the North and on the economic situation of this country?

That is the same kind of question as the original one and I do not think it merits an answer.

A similar question was directed to the Prime Minister of another State and was answered in detail.

I do not believe that.

It was answered and I could show the Taoiseach where it was answered.
