asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give an approximate indication of the percentage of Irish industry at present under British control; and the number of employees in that section of industry.
Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - British Sponsored Industries.
The information requested by the Deputy is not readily available in relation to Irish industry as a whole and to obtain it would involve an inordinate amount of research. I can say, however, that the IDA estimates that, since 1960, 40 per cent of all new industries established with foreign participation have been British sponsored and that these provide employment of the order of 10,000 workers.
