Vol. 259 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Domestic Exports Values.

5.

asked the Taoiseach the value of monthly domestic exports for January 1972 and January 1971; the amount of the decline; the relative decline at constant prices; and the causes for this decline.

Domestic exports amounted to £40.8 million in January, 1972, a decrease of £1.3 million compared with the figure of £42.1 million for January, 1971. The figure for January, 1972, is provisional at this stage and is subject to amendment. An export price (unit value) index is not yet available for January, 1972, and it is not possible, therefore, at this stage to compile the January, 1972, figure at constant prices. Details of the January, 1972, exports are not yet available but preliminary indications are that the decrease was mainly due to a fall in exports of meat.
