Vol. 259 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mentally Handicapped Children.

39.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state with respect to schools for mentally handicapped children the total amount spent from State funds in each of the past five years in respect of (a) capital grants; (b) transport facilities; (c) special equipment; and (d) remuneration of teachers.

National schools for mentally handicapped pupils function as part of the general system of national schools and the financial expenditure on them is not classified under separate heads. The inordinate amount of official time which would be involved would not warrant the extraction of the information under the headings listed.
