Vol. 259 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Boatyard.

45.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries whether it is intended to develop the Dingle boatyard, County Kerry, for greater output and particularly for building larger boats, in view of the fact that fears are expressed locally that the yards are being by-passed and may close in the near future.

I am assured by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara that there is no truth whatsoever in any suggestion that the board's boatyard at Dingle is being by-passed and may close. In fact, the board are considering the feasibility of increasing the capacity of this boatyard and indeed their other two boatyards at Killybegs and Baltimore so that they can cope with the buoyant demand that exists for bigger and more powerful fishing vessels.
