Vol. 259 No. 15

Written Answers. - Water Schemes.

73.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has sanctioned the extension to the water scheme at Ring, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This proposal is still under examination. I hope to advise the county council of my decision very shortly.

74.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will approve the contract documents submitted by Offaly County Council for the Daingean water supply scheme, County Offaly.

Contract documents for this scheme are under examination in my Department in the light of relevant technical information received on 21st February last.

75.

asked the Minister for Local Government the up to date position regarding Croghan group water scheme, County Offaly.

The design for this scheme was received in my Department at the end of February and is being examined.

76.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the application for a group water scheme was received from the residents of Gortavalla, Cooga Lower, and Cooga Upper, Doon, County Limerick; and what progress has been made in connection with it.

Survey sheets for the Gortavalla group water supply scheme were received in my Department on 21st July last. Alternative sources of supply for the scheme have since been investigated. On 3rd March, 1972, the inspector reported that a well had been selected which the county council regard as a suitable source, so far as quantity is concerned. Arrangements are being made to have the quality tested.

In regard to the Cooga Upper and Cooga Lower schemes a letter was received in my Department on 9th February, 1972, supplying a list of names in respect of each area and asking for a supply of survey sheets to be sent to the promoters. The survey sheets were forwarded on 2nd instant and were received back on 21st idem. The papers are now being referred to the local inspector for investigation.

77.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction the tender from Wicklow County Council for the provision of a water scheme to houses in Ballynerrin Upper and Blainroe, County Wicklow, which has been with his office for some months.

Proposals for this scheme are under consideration in my Department. However, since the project does not command a high priority in the county council's programme of water and sewerage schemes, I cannot say when a decision thereon will issue to the local authority.

78.

asked the Minister for Local Government if the final plans for the Dundrum, County Tipperary, group water scheme are as yet before his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question No. 80 on 24th February, 1972. The design documents for the scheme have been received in my Department and are being examined.
