asked the Minister for Social Welfare if, consequent on the different pleas made to him over the past 12 months and on the undoubted need, he will state if and when he intends to have an adequate improvement effected in the allowances to widows and orphans.

This is a matter which is usually considered in relation to the Budget. I would not be in a position to give the Deputy any information prior to the Budget Statement.
