Vol. 260 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Institutional Care Application.

1.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Health if he will make representations to the North Eastern Health Board with a view to having a person (name supplied) admitted to a suitable institution for retarded children in view of the fact that this child whose father died recently is one of a large family and is on the waiting list for several years.

The making of arrangements for the admission of a mentally handicapped patient to a residential centre is a matter for the appropriate health board. I would suggest that the Deputy should give details to the board of any special circumstances bearing on this case.
