Vol. 260 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disabled Person's Allowance.

7.

asked the Minister for Health why a person (name supplied) in County Galway has been refused a disabled person's maintenance allowance; and whether his application can be reconsidered.

The determination of eligibility for a disabled person's maintenance allowance is reserved to the health board for the area in which the person resides.

Consequently, the furnishing of the information requested by the Deputy and any reconsideration of the case referred to would be a matter for the Western Health Board.

Could the Taoiseach say if, as is envisaged in the Health Act, 1970, the means standard had been changed, the person in question would have qualified for the allowance?

I would not be able to say now.
