Vol. 260 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bacon Prices.

47.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the price per cwt quoted for bacon sides including hams by factories on Monday, 17th April and Monday, 1st May, 1972, respectively.

I have obtained information on the prices per cwt for bacon, sides including hams, from nine of the larger bacon curers for the dates mentioned in the Deputy's question. Prices on the 17th April, 1972, ranged as follows: Leanest bacon sides from £23.50 to £24.25 per cwt; Lean bacon sides from £22.50 to £23.50 per cwt; Medium bacon sides from £21 to £23 per cwt.

Prices on 1st May, 1972, ranged as follows: Leanest bacon sides from £23.50 to £25.20 per cwt; Lean bacon sides from £22.50 to £24.25 per cwt; Medium bacon sides from £21 to £24 per cwt.
