Vol. 260 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ethnic Tourist Campaign.

26.

Mr. O'Donnell

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether the special ethnic tourism campaign being carried out in Britain this year will be continued in future years.

I am informed by Bord Fáilte that they will continue to give a very high priority to the promotion of ethnic tourist traffic from Britain in future years.

Mr. O'Donnell

Is the Minister aware that there is a very strong suspicion among Irish organisations in Britain that when the present difficulties on the British tourist market have passed Bord Fáilte will have no further interest in the ethnic market? It is very essential that the Minister should be explicit and give a categorical assurance to the Irish organisations in Britain that ethnic tourism will be an integral part of all future promotional policies of Bord Fáilte.

I can give that assurance.
