It is estimated that the total amount paid from the redundancy fund for the year 1971 was £1,708,310 and for the first quarter of 1972, £634,042.
Payments from the funds are estimated to have averaged £266 per redundant worker in 1971 and £381 per redundant worker in the first quarter of 1972. I would point out that these figures refer only to payments from the fund and do not reflect payments under the Redundancy Payments Acts which are met by employers without recoupment from the fund.
