Vol. 260 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Border Infringements.

12.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has made any representations to the British authorities following the incursion of British Army personnel into the Republic at Clones on Saturday, 6th May, 1972; and whether he has sought an assurance from the British authorities that such incursions will cease.

Reports have been received about the incident referred to but the evidence is not sufficient to warrant raising the matter with the British authorities.

13.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of times British Army personnel made incursions into the Republic during the two-year period ended 31st March, 1972; and the number of times representations have been made by the Government in this regard to the British authorities.

There is evidence of British military incursions on 88 occasions in the period referred to. All of these incursions were brought to the attention of the British authorities.
