Vol. 260 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Revenue Stamping Branch Building.

36.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) the estimated cost of building the new stamping branch for the Revenue Commissioners at Dublin Castle; (b) the amount spent to date; and (c) when it is expected that the project will be completed.

The estimated cost of the building referred to is £1,085,000.

Six hundred and ninety-eight thousand, two hundred and eighty-seven pounds have been spent on the building to date and it is expected that it will be completed early in 1973.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary satisfied that this was necessary?

The contract date for completion is the 24th March and it will be finished ahead of schedule.

That is not the question. Was the expenditure necessary?

Absolutely.

Such an expenditure?

Indeed, I wish we had more money to spend on developments of this nature.
