The Office of Public Works has for many years carried out improvements to fishery harbours including such facilities as those mentioned in the question. The total number of harbours improved would run into many hundreds. Particulars for the years 1970-71 and 1971-72 are given below. Up to 31/3/72 the cost was met partly from the Vote for Public Works and Buildings and partly from the Vote for Roinn na Gaeltachta. The projects previously financed from the Vote for Public Works and Buildings are from 1/4/72 paid for from the Vote for Fisheries.

The Commissioners of Public Works have responsibility in varying degrees under the National Monuments Acts for over 1,000 monuments or groups of monuments. The monuments are spread throughout the country.
