Written Answers. - OPW Expenditure.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) the number of (i) permanent and (ii) temporary civil servants; (b) their cost to the State for each year since 1957; and (c) their estimated cost for 1972-73.

The information sought by the Deputy is not available at present. If the Deputy would repeat the question in a fortnight's time, I hope to have the necessary information.

124.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) the total amount paid by the Office of Public Works to each architect in each year for the past five years; and (b) the names of the architects.

I presume the question refers to architects in private practice commissioned by the Office of Public Works on a fee basis.

The information is as follows:

asked the Minister for Finance the amount spent each year by the Office of Public Works on boat lifting facilities, harbour buildings and major fishery harbours; and if he will indicate the harbours improved.

The Office of Public Works has for many years carried out improvements to fishery harbours including such facilities as those mentioned in the question. The total number of harbours improved would run into many hundreds. Particulars for the years 1970-71 and 1971-72 are given below. Up to 31/3/72 the cost was met partly from the Vote for Public Works and Buildings and partly from the Vote for Roinn na Gaeltachta. The projects previously financed from the Vote for Public Works and Buildings are from 1/4/72 paid for from the Vote for Fisheries.
