Vol. 260 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford City Bridge.

119.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position concerning the proposed second bridge for Waterford city; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following examination of the report prepared by their consultants, the corporation are being informed that detailed investigation of the recommended site near Bilberry Quarry may now proceed.

Could the Minister indicate when work will actually commence on the building of the second bridge, which is very important to the development of Waterford city as a major development centre?

That is asking me to make a guess. The detailed examination of the site has not been carried out. It may transpire that the site is not suitable at all. It is proceeding satisfactorily to date and the Deputy can be assured that it will be considered as a matter of high priority by my Department.
