Vol. 261 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - EEC Social Welfare Systems.

17.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will circulate to members of the Dáil details of the social welfare systems as they operate in the present EEC member countries.

Information concerning the general systems of social security operating in the present member countries of the EEC will be found in the publication "Comparative Tables of Social Security Systems in the member states of the European Communities", a copy of which I arranged to have placed in the Oireachtas Library some time ago.

Could the Minister tell me if the information contained therein is directly comparable with the information available on the Irish services and if he has arranged to have Irish information tabulated in such a way that direct and easy comparison can be made?

It is not so easy to compare them scheme for scheme.

The Minister is aware that there is a pretty good document in circulation in this country giving the necessary information?

There is one that I think all Deputies have in their possession at the moment.
