Vol. 261 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork AnCO Centre.

19.

asked the Minister for Labour the present position regarding the AnCO training centre in Cork city.

AnCO are negotiating for the acquisition of premises in Cork for use as a training centre on a temporary basis. They hope to commence training courses there by the end of June, 1972. They are also considering the best means of providing a permanent training centre for Cork.

Was this not supposed to be started in January, 1971?

Yes. I think negotiations for the premises are the only matter that may have delayed the scheme.

For 18 months?

It seems a long time. Was there any trouble in connection with the premises?

We were not ready 18 months ago.

It is useful to mention it now and again.

The equipment for it has been acquired and that is a very good sign of our earnestness to get going.
