Vol. 261 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers - Industrial Development Department.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if the Government have any plans to set up a new Department for the regional development of industry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Government are satisfied that existing arrangements to deal with the matter are adequate and have no plans to set up a new Ministry for the regional development of industry.

Does the Taoiseach not think, now that we have regional authorities and such a necessity for developing the west, that there should be, for some years at least, a special Department for the regional development of industry?

I am not satisfied there should be.

Is the Taoiseach dis-interested then in the industrialisation of the west?

That does not follow.

It may not follow, but it is certainly an indication that he may be.
