Vol. 261 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transfer of Telephone.

163.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why it is not possible for a resident (name supplied) in Tallaght, County Dublin, to have his telephone transferred to his new home.

Provision of service for the person named has had to be deferred because of lack of underground cabling in the area concerned. An underground cabling scheme which will enable service to be given will, it is expected, be completed in about four months.

Is the Minister aware that a person who already has a telephone in the Tallaght district cannot now have it moved up a few doors and does he not agree that this is a terrible position in 1972?

I agree with the Deputy that it is not possible to give this person a transfer of telephone for the simple reason that we have not the cabling equipment laid on in this new estate yet.
