Vol. 261 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Improvement Works.

23.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the grave dissatisfaction concerning the limited scheme of repairs being carried out at Bayfield, Moville, County Donegal; and why a major scheme was not undertaken.

24.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will provide breakwater material on the seaward side of the protective wall at present being repaired at Bayfield, County Donegal.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 23 and 24 together.

I am not aware of dissatisfaction such as that referred to by the Deputy concerning the coast protection scheme at Moville.

The scheme was prepared at the request of Donegal County Council and was approved by the council after the statutory public exhibition. No observations were received in response to exhibition.

The works being carried out are considered adequate for the protection of the area against the encroachment of the sea. They include the provision of loose rock protection as may be required.
