Vol. 262 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Skerries Harbour Extension.

58.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if, in view of the substantial increase in the number of fishing trawlers operating from Skerries harbour, he will now prepare a scheme to add a further extension to the harbour equal in length to the last one.

The special survey team which is at present engaged in an appraisal of the landing facilities required to meet the present and the expected needs of the sea fishing industry is reaching the stage in its work where it will concentrate on the study of east coast fish landing places. Skerries harbour will, of course, be included in this appraisal and the need for any further extension of the pier there will be fully examined.
