Vol. 262 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Brain-Injured Children.

3.

asked the Minister for Health if his Department has received any request for a grant and/or other financial assistance from the Irish Society for Brain-Injured Children; whether any financial aid has been given to this society; and, if not, why.

An application for financial assistance was received in my Department from the Irish Society for Brain-Injured Children towards the expenses involved in sending a group of children from this country to the Philadelphia Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential. As I was not satisfied that it had been established by authoritative scientific studies that the treatment provided by the institutes is superior, in any significant manner if at all, to that provided by orthodox means I had to refuse the application.
