A discussion paper entitled "Consumer Councils in Public Enterprise", which has been prepared on behalf of the National Prices Commission, proposes the establishment of consumer councils in certain public sectors, including the ESB and the State transport companies. The proposals are being examined by the interests concerned, including the State bodies under the aegis of my Department, and these interests have been given until next September to submit their views in the matter.
