Vol. 262 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inspectors of Taxes.

11.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of days of (a) annual leave and (b) sick leave granted to inspectors of taxes.

Subject to the exigencies of the public service an inspector of taxes may be allowed annual leave at the rate of 20 working days a year during the first five years of service and at the rate of 25 days thereafter. This leave is exclusive of the usual public holidays.

As regards sick leave, full pay during properly certified sick absence, provided there is no evidence of permanent disability for service, may be allowed at the discretion of the Revenue Commissioners and subject to any service regulations in regard to leave, up to a maximum of six months in one year and half pay thereafter subject to a maximum of 12 months' sick leave in any period of four years or less.

In addition, there are special sick leave conditions applicable to officers suffering from tuberculosis. These provide for a maximum of six months on full pay followed by six months on three-quarter pay and by six months on half pay.
